Course History

Old Brockway Golf Course was built by Harry Comstock and designed by renowned Scottish architect John Duncan Dunn. Dunn was one of the premiere golf course architects of his era. He built many famous courses in his day, one being the Shinnecock Hills, NY, site of the 1995 US Open. Historic Old Brockway features small, turtle-back greens, minimum green to tee walking distances, and tight-knit fairways. All of these features were found on golf courses in an era where there were no carts and the club of choice generally had a hickory shaft. When you come to Historic Old Brockway, you are taking a step back in time.

In the early 1930’s many of Tahoe’s big names chose to make Old Brockway their home course. In 1934 and 1935, Bing Crosby hosted his “Crosby” tournament clambake with his friends for a small purse of money. Eventually, the tournament became so large that the location needed to change to Pebble Beach. This tournament evolved into what is now known as the AT&T Open.

Many notorious celebrities once walked the fairways of Historic Old Brockway including Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, notorious gangster “Bones” Remmel, Bob Hope, former President Dwight D. Eisenhower, Joseph P. Kennedy, and many more.

If you are vacationing in Lake Tahoe, Old Brockway Golf Course is a must stop. Lane Lewis and his family gladly welcome golfers of any ability to come out and give the course a try. We hope to see you in the coming season!
